Way, way back at the beginning of time, when men were men and sheep were scared, a young male of the species homus erectus, lit by the guttering light of dying torches, emerged from the dragon clouds, the noise of chaos and fighting still ringing in his ears. Not far away, hidden behind the guardian statue of the entwined lovers of dark and light, a creature from the elder race, the last now alive in this pitiless place made its decision to fight to the death. It would have rather skulked away and licked its wounds but its fate seemed driven by the roll of a dice. Gazing at the bodies of his dead companions, drenched with the blood of their enemies, Michael (pronounced Mick-ay-el because he thought it sounded good) the Serpent Lord laughed heartily, as he was wont to do back then, and reached for his mug of steaming coffee. The nameless and fearful master of dungeons (he did have a name but Steven just didn't have the same ring to it) suggested rolling a D20 to spot the concealed orc before it knifed him in the back … again.
It was early 1980's and Mike Stone and Steve Mitchell had met at Keele University. As well as enjoying the mystical realms of elves and dryads, beer and parties, laced with a smattering of study, they soon discovered a mutual interest in music making and writing with local bands. Steve and Mike already had graded examinations under their belts in their respective instruments so with a degree in music they started to attract attention further afield with Mike's flowing lyrics augmenting Steve's very individual music. Steve's musical direction of the European premier of Annie Warbucks led him into contact with Warner Chappels and in 1997 Steve and Mike formed Buzz'n'Bee Music to promote their composition. Writing in styles as diverse as folk, reggae, blues and traditional jazz they have been commissioned to compose for everything from Australian children's TV to a title track for a Warner Brothers film. More recently they were asked to write music to underscore a Granada TV series in the style of Clannad. Steve and Mike had been prompted to compile a C.D. of their music and were working on a second one for empowerment and meditation when a new singer arrived on the scene to record the vocal tracks. There was an instant spark between everyone and something magical was happening. As a result of an internet publicity drive for this new album, tentatively named Soul Path, the group were asked to perform at Philip Gardiner's Forbidden Knowledge Conference UK and Soul Path the band were born.
Described as a fusion of Enya, Clannad and Dido their music is something else with its own unique style and sound. It comes from the heart and soul and most importantly from the universe itself.
